JAZZ
“Intellectually engaging and dancy fourth-world anthems.”

New Fossils may be newcomers to the vibrant Budapest jazz scene, but they certainly aren’t inexperienced. After sharpening their teeth through different pop collaborations, bandleaders Dániel Ferenc Szabó (drums) and Marcell Gyányi (bass), two of the most in-demand players of their generation, decided to dig deeper into improvised music. They formed a contemporary jazz quintet with local jazz heavyweights Dániel Varga (sax, fx), István Tóth (guitar) and Damján Ocsovay (piano, keys) and focused on creating dark cinematic atmospheres and head-nodding rhythms for late night contemplation.
