Established in Zagreb in 2009, the trio Žen is a key representative of the Balkan shoegaze and post-rock scene. This AV project, associated with the Austrian queer/feminist label Unrecords, the French Vox Project and Slovenian Moonlee Records, has performed from the Baltic to the Balkans, from the Vistula River to the Atlantic sea. Shly nodding to pop, their tender songs are marked by hypnotic guitar layers and heartfelt group vocals, always on the softly psychedelic, sun–soaked, dreamy side of things.
