PEOPLE CLUB (Germany)
“Their alt-pop guitar jams pick apart patriarchal themes and the regressive nature of 21st century hyper-capitalism.”
This international quintet with members from Australia, the USA, the UK and New Zealand chose Berlin as its headquarters. Its members met in 2018 through social media. They say it is Marvin Gaye and Gil Scott-Heron who are responsible for their addictive fusion of classic soul and dreamy indie pop. The band’s studio techniques are a reflection of the methods used in the legendary Motown studio. In their lyrics, they touch upon sexism, addiction and anxiety. Their lo-fi soul EP “Kil Scott” was released in November. It is supposedly best consumed during their wild live shows.
