Neighbours Burning Neighbours
“Their collectively pulsing nature and dual vocals create a unique cocktail of noise, post-punk and krautrock.”
Rotterdam’s hyperproductive art scene is incessantly churning out great new bands. Neighbours Burning Neighbours is another fine example. Relying on an exciting and untamable double vocal delivery, spiky guitar phrasing and hard-hitting drums, this noise rock / post-punk quartet tears down all sound barricades. Shifting between harmonic melancholy and distorted explosiveness, their dynamic song structures sound like organized chaos. While somewhat comparable to their compatriots The Sweet Release of Death with whom they share a member, journalists have also drawn parallels between them and fellow noisemakers Girl Band, The Ex, Deerhoof, Sonic Youth and Siouxsie & the Banshees.
