Black Country, New Road (United Kingdom)
“As the band play recently released ‘Sunglasses’, the audience outsing the sax melody. This is 120 people! Reminder that this track has only been out for 2 months. What will it be like when a year old? This performance has made me incredibly excited for the future of this band.”
Jimmy McCormac, NEW SOUNDS
Black Country, New Road sound like a proper filthy juggernaut of a band, a real experience to behold. At times, colossal metal riffs mangle with frenetic jazz freakouts; occasionally, film noir string motifs are motored into the urgent present with a razor-tight rhythm section. This seven-piece is a punk groover with spoken word passages. The band is working with producer Dan Carey’s Speedy Wunderground label, which seems to be exploding with the new sound of Britain in the form of acts like Black Midi and Squid.
