Zahir (Estonia)

NOISE ROCK / POST-HARDCORE

"... [T]he sound of the band has become more song-based and basically sounds like ABBA."

Tõnu Karjatse, Kultuur.

Estonian noise rock veterans have been around since 1993, releasing many highly praised albums, among them What Noise? (2018) and last year's Seems Normal, which were both nominated for the Best Rock Album at the Estonian Music Awards. The former also topped Estonia's premier annual critics' polls. An intergenerational project consisting of original and new younger members, Zahir boast guitar-powered walls of sound, forceful basslines, relentless drumming, hoarse male and piercing female vocals. Their unapologetic music feels like a punch in the guts.
