Tokyo Drift

“From a young age, she composed sad songs with a guitar, then rode the wave of euphoric hyperpop.”

Scorpio season never ends! On the debut album of Czech singer/producer Pavla Bastlová aka Tokyo Drift, contemporary rap aesthetics collide with urban songwriting. Acoustic guitar strumming intertwines with trap beats, and dreamy vocals echo through night-time Prague. Even melancholy can be a flex! With her distinctive fusion of gloomy beats and electronic tropes, Tokyo Drift is creating a new perspective on the hip hop genre. She borrowed her name from a song by acclaimed Estonian rapper Tommy Cash, but it’s also a nod to the famous episode of the Fast and Furious franchise and a symbol for something strong, fast and furious, contrasting her own fragility.
