Puuluup (Estonia)

"Puuluup are true originals with a cult following. They are doing something pretty unusual,

pushing obscure folk material towards the mainstream with a whole lot of panache."

Simon Broughton, Songlines

A pinch of surrealism, modern folklore and talharpa revival! The old and the new stick together like water and sleet in Puuluup’s oeuvre. The talharpas, the instruments the duo uses, represent memories and folklore, which becomes even richer due to their specific approach. They electronically modify the mellow sighs of this ancient whispering instrument and its limited tonal range. Their sound expands from all kinds of random sources of inspiration, serving an unusually lively and unique mixture of modern tradition.
