The First MENT x ETEP Session with Molchat Doma

The First MENT x ETEP Session with Molchat Doma

In collaboration between MENT, the ETEP European music platform, and the Multipraktik Films team, a video session with the band Molchat Doma was recorded during the festival.

The Belarusian trio, which recently won over fans of the golden age of post-punk with its album “Этажи” (“Etazhi”), and which sold out numerous venues around Europe during its tour, played Ljubljana for the first time. One day after performing in a packed Gala Hala during the MENT festival, the band recorded a concert session in the upcoming Computer Museum.

The above-mentioned album is being reissued by American independent label Sacred Bones, also home to Zola Jesus, The Soft Moon, John Carpenter, Moon Duo, Uniform, Jenny Hval, and others. The band’s dark blend of danceable post-punk, new wave and synth-pop pays tribute to the pioneers of the genre, whilst placing them among those ranks as well.

The video was produced in cooperation with ETEP (European Talent Exchange Programme), of which the MENT festival is also a member. This is the first such session within the framework of the platform. ETEP was introduced in 2003 to make the “exchange” of European artists across Europe possible on a greater scale than ever before. An initiative of ESNS, ETEP facilitates the booking of European acts at festivals outside their home countries, and generates extensive media exposure for these artists in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), export offices and local media. This way, ETEP aims to give a boost to the international careers of European artists.

The MENT festival is opening artist applications in May, and will take place from 3rd to 5th February 2021.
