“The main representative of the Russian witch house scene.” RADIO ŠTUDENT
He likes to hide his face from the public with a Tambov “bandit’s” bandanna. A similarly confrontational stance is taken towards modern society, albeit with a dash of irony. Summer of Haze is an electronic music producer from Tambov in Russia. Tracks by this anonymous project, named after the American porn star, are posted and published all over Russian social networks by thousands of fans at the speed of light. Fans and journalists call him ”the lord of witch house”, although he himself prefers his own genre definition: weedwave. His performances pack clubs across Russia. Having played almost one hundred gigs in 2018, he recorded his take on the inverted trance reflecting on the raves that he goes to every weekend to perform to crowds numbering anywhere from a hundred to several thousand people.
Three Russian “geeks”, Dmitry Garin (Acid Mafia), Alexey Devyanin (Pixelord) and Sergey Saburov (Saburov/SΛB), met online towards the end of the 1990s. A few years later, they established a label that became a community. Today, Hyperboloid is synonymous with “internet bass tunes” – a sonic palette of dark trap, wild juke, colourful synths twisting among IDM beats, and club mutations that dare go to the edge and beyond. The community of mainly Russian producers throws concerts all over the world, their releases are regularly reported on by globally recognised media, and their hometown events expand the horizons of the local audience. In 2015, they received the Russian Jägermeister Indie Award for Best Label, which is unstoppably approaching its hundredth release.
The Hyperboloid Night will feature A.Fruit, Bad Zu, Raumskaya, Saburov and Summer of Haze.
