“These Belgians absolutely tore it up!” PUNKANORMAL ACTIVITY
It’s a tradition in recent years that some of the most bizarre and brutal bands at MENT come from Belgium. This year, it’s time for the raw energy and uncompromising guitar fever of It It Anita, first-class madmen of the Belgian noise scene. They sound like a dynamic hybrid of Fugazi, At The Drive-In, Metz and Sonic Youth. They recorded their debut “Agaaiin” (Luik Records, 2016) with legendary producer John Agnell (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.). In 2018, they released “Laurent” via Vicious Circle Records, an album dedicated to their sound guy, the fifth member of the band and its unofficial mascot, who makes sure that the crazy post-punks sound good at every gig, even when guitars are flying through the air or when the drummer decides to place his entire set among the audience. Now make some room, people!
